Something that surprised me in chapter 1 was the create a research space (CASRS) by John Swales. I thought the steps of the CARS had good step into figuring out where to start with a research paper and evolve in the body.

Reading and writing go hand and hand with each other. While writing you have to be conscious of how a reader is going to take your writing or give feedback. Readers are about giving input on writers work to help become a better writer.

Context – the circumstances and order of something written that help clarify the passage.

Threshold Concepts – type of way someone thinks that does not allow them to see another way of thinking.
