Carol was raised in a poor single parent household while Sarah was raised in a working middle class family. Sarah had more dominant forms of literacy which allowed her to easily understand how to budget her finances which helped her family move up the middle class. Carol’s was not as dominant, she was not born with the same privileges as Sarah, but she allowed herself to be open to the same opportunities. Carol had a more spiritual way of viewing things while Sarah was more family oriented. Carol used her new found appropriated skill to expand her missionary work, while Sarah used her new appropriated skill to expand her financial literacy which adapted to her household.
