Prompt –

Choose an Issue, a Social Media Platform, and Texts. In this assignment, you’ll look specifically at social-issue advocacy pieces written to “go viral” via social media, and how language and links from those pieces show up in other social media. The purpose of the assignment is to further explore, demonstrate, and practice with the concepts of velocity, ecology, and intertextuality in rhetorical interaction. Trace the velocity of a piece: from its point of origin, what direction it goes, at what rates, and what it becomes.

Literacy Narrative

Drawing on what you have read this chapter, examine you own literacy history, habits, processes. The purpose of this inquiry is to get to know yourself better as a reader and writer, As Malcolm X argued, awareness gives power and purpose. The more you know about yourself as reader as a reader and writer, the more control you are likely to have over these processes.

Prompt –

This project doesn’t require that you do a lot of new reading or research, but there is some. You can read the prompt and get some familiarity with it.

You’re basically being asked to take the research you conducted in MA3 and reframe it for new readers and new purposes in this project.

You can either create one big project that encompasses two genres in a complete way (did you watch the YouTube video that was really just a Prezi-based presentation on the previous page in this module?) or you can create two smaller projects that are distinct genres that address audiences and purposes other than what your original report addressed.

Within the link to the PDF is an outline/process I went through when starting Major Assignment 1. Before starting the assignment I knew that I wanted to interview three different age groups and find if their views were the same about what they thought good writing is. It shows the ways I was thinking when processing about how I was going to construct the paper.

My writing process has changed since I have started college. The writing process works by coming up with different ideas that I could write about and then skim it down to a couple of options. Next I usually find myself coming up with what I am going to talk about in each paragraph. Next I normally would write a rough draft, revise it and then turn it in. Research to me is collecting information/data to put towards a paper or report.

Draft and publish a blog post in which you explore the possible audiences and purposes for your new genres, and which genres might best meet the needs of those audiences and purposes

For MA4 my main audience is going to be the marketing team within a businesses. The purpose is to show businesses how to properly promote their products through a social media site. A good genre that I was thinking about doing for MA4 was a training manual to show the step that could be taken to gain velocity on a social site.

There are many ways outside of school where I use my writing skills. I use my writing within grocery list, filling out doctor papers, checklist/task to do, journaling, job applications, texting, and emailing. I learned that there are more things that I write in my everyday life than I thought. I wouldn’t consider the writing as creative, but more a freeing feeling because you know that someone is not going to critique your work. While in school your work is more creative because you want to be able to express and show that you can do something different for an assignment and show the instructor that you can be creative in your work. The two writings can be similar by taking some skill and using them into each style of writing.
